CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)

A digital communication technology used by some carriers to provide PCS service. Also known as IS-95A or cdmaOne. CDMA uses coding of digital segments of calls where voice is encoded into digitised bits. It is the digital cellular standard used in Japan, parts of the Far East and the USA. Other technologies used are TDMA and GSM.
